With CVM having been founded in my home county of Kent in 1989, the ministry truly has its roots in England. For more than three decades, men in this nation have been firmly in the sights of the ministry. By God’s grace, many have come to faith, but there is so much more to do. (Luke 10:2).
In 2015, after several years of representing CVM across the South East of England, I stepped into the role of National Director. From a good base, I felt strongly that we needed to grow and develop the regional and local teams. In doing this, the reach of CVM in England would be extended and the ministry’s effectiveness in presenting the gospel to men would increase. In 2019, CVM is represented locally by over 70 Area Coordinators from the Western Isles of Scotland to St Helier in Jersey. Including CVM’s regional directors across England and Scotland, the vast majority of the team work voluntarily for the ministry. Across the nations of England, Wales and Scotland men’s groups are reaching out to the men in their networks with the good news of Jesus. Nearly 400 groups are now standing with CVM, unashamed of the gospel (Rom 1:16) and regularly seeing transformation in the lives of men who have been impacted by what God is doing through this ministry.
Alongside the Gathering, CVM’s annual festival in Swindon, many regional and local events are enabling men to hear the gospel in new and creative ways. CVM’s ‘4-Level Evangelism’ and ‘Winning Men’ strategies are being embraced and implemented by a growing number of partner churches and men’s groups at grassroots level. Following a revision and update of ‘The Code’, 2020 marks the relaunch of this key resource. An eight stop tour of events across England, Scotland, Wales and the Channel Islands focuses on helping men to walk the narrow path of persuing Jesus. Alongside some of the usual CVM stuff, the events seek to break away from the ‘sit and listen’ format and instead have men walking into an interesting and engaging environment, with cars, motorcycles, a mobile barber, martial arts demo and live graffiti artist among some of the possible features.
The vision for CVM in England is for continued growth. Growth in the number of partnered churches and new men’s groups, an increase in area co-ordinator representation across all our major towns and cities and ultimately more and more opportunities to share the life changing message of Jesus with the men of this nation.
